Carolyn Ruth Harrell, 80, of Luther, OK was called to her heavenly home on July 22, 2021. She was born to Henry and Attie Jones of Cumberland, OK on July 20, 1941 where she attended grade school and helped clean her parent’s fishing cabins. Carolyn attended Madill High School through her junior year and graduated Luther High School in 1962. She had a whirlwind romance and married Edward Harrell on September 19, 1958; they made Luther their home for the past 62 years. Carolyn worked at Harrell’s Grocery off and on, and she spent 6 years working in the bearing bay at Tinker Air Force Base. She spent most of her time on the family farm raising 3 children, caring for numerous animals, and tending her gardens. Carolyn became a Christian at 13 and was a member of The First Baptist Church of Jones, where she attended until her health prevented it. Carolyn loved family and writing, and after taking a genealogy class, wrote a book on “The Six Generations of Potter & Margaret Henson”, her maternal grandparents. Carolyn loved spending time with her family; she could often be found preparing meals for family gatherings, solving crossword puzzles, taking pictures and scrapbooking, and navigating complex puzzles with her grandchildren! Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother. Survivors include (husband) Edward Harrell of Luther, (son) Dave Harrell of Edmond, (Daughter) Pam Kohler & husband Bob of Edmond, (son) Dwayne Harrell & wife Tommi of Collinsville, (Sister) Allene Stockton of Lubbock, TX, (Sister) Judy Maddox of Miamisburg, OH, (Brother) Ricky Jones of Ardmore, and many wonderful in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carolyn adored her 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Matthew and Brittany, Krystal and Dustin, Michaela and Charlie, Levi and Aleena, Sam and Breann. She celebrated the addition of each of her 7 great grandchildren: Caidym, Taylor, and Hunter; Judah and Millie; Ruth and Peter, and expects another great granddaughter in December. Carolyn loved her Lord and her family dearly, and her sweet spirit touched many lives. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her! Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Valley View Cemetery, N Peebly Road, 0.5 miles North of HWY 66 NW of Luther, OK.
