Michael James Long passed from this life August 27, 2018 at his home in Chandler, Oklahoma. Mike was born April 4, 1940 to Leslie and Anita (Baldwin) Long.
After graduation from High School in Eastern Nebraska, Mike moved to Valentine, Nebraska where he worked on ranches in the Sandhills. There he became lifelong friends with Bill Bolen and family. He married Janice Marlene Foster Dec. 29, 1958 in Valentine, Nebraska. He served his country while in the United State Army. After the Army he worked at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City and was a highly skilled Farrier. Later he worked for the Oklahoma Turnpike until his retirement. His hobbies were horses and roping. Later in life he learned to enjoy dancing and went to a lot of senior dances with his special friend Marci. Mike was preceded in death by his wife Janice, his parents, and his in-laws Walter and Clara Foster. Survivors include his brother in law Otto Frauen; sister in laws Darlene Ryschon and Martha Foster of Valentine NE. and a host of nieces and nephews; his special friend Marci Morrow of Jones OK. And his "special family" Bob Bolen and family of Sharon Spgs, KS; Brenda Bolen(Steve) Morell and her sons Garrett(Laura) Nokes & sons of McCook, NE and Justen(Ashley)Nokes & daughter of Juniata NE. Mike will be missed by all who knew and loved him..... A viewing will be held Friday September 7th from 11:00 am - 7:00pm. Graveside Services will be Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10:00 am in the New Hope Cemetery in Valentine, Nebraska. Services under the direction of Boydston-Bailey Funeral Home Luther, OK. |
